Fun Fall Activities: Make an Autumn Checklist

Looking for fun fall activities? Try some of these ideas.

You can go apple picking, explore a corn maze, take a hot-air-balloon ride, or go hiking. Fall is also the perfect time for a road trip, especially because you can watch the changing leaves along the way. We at Slingerland CDJR have compiled a list of some of our favorite fall activities for you to consider.

First, try apple picking. “Magnified apples appear and disappear, stem end and blossom end,” writes Robert Frost about apple picking, a New England poet from a region perhaps best known for the fall activity. Even in Michigan there are a few great places to pick apples, and many people love to make pies afterwards with the apples they collect.

Next, according to Real Simple, you should get lost in a corn maze. If you’ve watched the horror classic Children of the Corn recently, we suppose you might want to avoid this activity, unless maybe you’re a thrill seeker. Corn mazes are popular in the Midwest, and are something every person from Michigan should try.

Hiking is also great for those who love the outdoors. Escarpment Trail in the Porcupine Mountains is perhaps one of the top places to hike in the state, though you’ll have to take a day trip to the Upper Peninsula. A little closer to home is the Jordan River Pathway near Mancelona, Michigan. This trail totals 19 miles, so it’s great for experienced hikers.

Other things to do including kite flying, taking a hayride, or simply collecting leaves. You can’t go wrong with these fall activities.
